SCP invited to participate in Heritage of China International Symposium 2016

SCP consultants Pte Ltd was invited to participate in Heritage of China International Symposium 2016 organized by Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, University of Liverpool and Suzhou University of Science and Technology on 6th-8th April 2016. SCP's Chief Planner Mr. Qiu Xiaoxiang, who is currently formulating Suzhou Tourism Development Strategy and 13th 5-year Tourism Plan, delivered a speech on "From Classical Gardens to Their Stakeholder Communities ——An Exploration of the Tourism Development in Suzhou Historic City"


More than 20 experts delivered speech at this International Symposium on 'Reclaiming Identity and (Re)Materializing Pasts: Approaches to Heritage Conservation in China' , including Professor from China Academy of Science, Professor Thomas Coomans from  University of Leuven, international and local heritage conservation experts, researchers. More than 50 researchers from the field of planning, architecture, geography, and history, participated in the discussion. Approach to formulate modern China cultural heritage conservation in context of globalization through setting up China heritage conservation experience exchange and learning platform, gathering international and local view points, discussing current ways and means, exploring problems and core values of China heritage conservation.


SCP and Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University Department of Urban Planning and Design (UPD) signed a memorandum in 2014, to carry out a series cooperation such as joint research, lecture, professional training, etc. During the preparation of the symposium, SCP and Jiaotong-Liverpool University had several exchange and sharing of Suzhou ancient city rejuvenation, Suzhou ancient city tourism development results and research. Both parties agreed to conduct in-depth exchange and cooperation on "Heritage conservation and urban renewal" topic, to expand research ideas from multi-views, a paradigm in research cooperation.
